The city is shared between Savoy and France following the treaties of 1355 and 1377.
One guesses the rare rests of ramparts at the edge of the Guiers (more visible side Savoy).
Some old houses overhanging Guiers escaped the destruction of the bridge in 1940.
In the centre, buildings date the XVIII-th century, period in whom(which) the city is profoundly marked by the activity of contraband of the famous Chuck.
