In 1138, Albéric sent by St Bernard, bases the Abbey Cistercian of Our Lady of The Benedictine of God, whose name will be deformed during ages in "La Bénisson-Dieu".
The primitive abbey church dates the end of the XII-th century. In the transition between the Romanic and Gothic arts, it is a building typically Cistercian: stained glasses in greyness, sober lines glorified by the fair limestone.
At the end of the XV-th century, the abbot Pierre de la Fin, executes considerable works: addition of the bell tower of a height of 51 m, the roof in varnished polychromatic tiles(blows)...

After the confusions of the Religious wars, the Abbey is destroyed. In 1611, the monks exchange posts with the religious Cistercians of Mégemont, in Auvergne, whose abbess, Madam de Nérestang, restores the convent and added to the church a chapel the baroque dedicated to the virgin.
The firm abbey at the time of the Revolution and its buildings(ships) serve as stony career. Only the church remains, amputated nevertheless by the choir and by the transept. The village, built around the abbey church, is a friendly village today, to discover for his(its,her) past bound(connected) to the work of the terra-cotta.
A reception, situated under the bell tower of the church, welcomes the guests and proposes, in season, night-been guided visits or in the day, concerts and exhibitions.
Church is opened by Easter in November 11 (except offices).
