For one and a half-th century, Charlieu's town is renowned for its exceptional silk materials intended for the High Sewing and for the up-market furnishing. In 1992, a Museum of the Silk trade settled down in the Charlieu's Hotel-Dieu
, the beautiful building(ship) of the XVIII-th century.
Quality realization, it(he) benefits from the label "museum controlled", awarded by the Ministry of Culture.
Your visit will begin by a set of machines textiles(textile industries) in working order, among which most date the XIX-th century.

You will see the traditional weaving mill of materials on wooden arm profession and on profession mechanics, among which a "Jacquard loom", as well as on the most successful contemporary professions. Farther, you will not miss to admire luxieuses former(old) silk dresses as well as the samples of the creations conceived for the High Sewing. You will also get acquainted with the last Corporation of the Weavers in activity in France : that of Charlieu
, which(who) organizes every year an unique(only) and spectacular holiday with auction of royal loads(responsibilities) !
Finally, a broadcasting(audiovisual) projection will tell you the various stages of the creation of a tissue. The museum presents every year of the temporary exhibitions.
The shop of the museum will propose you étofffes weaved to Charlieu, as well as very numerous silk goods(articles), clothes and objects of decoration realized by the workshop(studio) of the museum.
Being opened from February till December. From February 1-st till June 15 and from September 16 till December 31 from 14 o'clock till 18 o'clock, closed on Mondays.
