In a decoration often evoking Switzerland, Violay, situated in 830 metres in height, is a very ancient village, a church being mentioned in 998.

The Tower Matagrin situated in 1 004 metres in height, is on the Mountain Boussuivre, highlight of the Mountains of Lyonnais. Built in 1876, the tower was put on(beaten) by a roof sharp. Today, the Tower Matagrin is accessible(approachable) freely on foot or in car ; one can climb on the summit by an internal stair and discover the magnificent panorama to 360 ° which extends by clear time over 14 departments.
