Of 1820 in the nationalization of 1946, the Company of the mines of Firminy and Roche-la-Molière was the unique(only) holder of the right of exploitation of the coal. It is especially after 1856 that the mining development accélera the increase of a population which was still scattered and rural, and in whom(which) one listed(counted) more of rubaniers that of minors.
The sites of extraction multiplied with the procession of railroads and slag heaps. To fix the workforce, the Company would have should build workers' housing developments, the first of which was in 1873 that of Bush today disappeared. That of "Pontin" dates 1898, and that of "Beaulieu" of 1902-1907 (she(it) welcomed after 1918 an important Polish community).
Once turned the page of the coal, it was necessary "to urbanize" an environment strongly marked by the mining companies, to reconvert grounds, to attract(entice) new companies, to connect the former(old) cities by new houses, to enrich the range of the services, to maintain a cultural, associative and sports life, to take care of a quality attractive over résidenctielle.
In it contributed also the renovation of the former(ancient) village, in the beautiful restoration of the castle, patrimony henceforth registered on the inventory of ancient memorials, and the organization of its park in full city center. The success is sure.
